Q) How does TELI CL 40MG TABLET work? A) TELI CL 40MG TABLET consists of two anti-hypertensive drugs: Cilnidipine (Calcium channel blocker) and Telmisartan (Angiotensin II receptor antagonist). Cilnidipine blocks the calcium ions and helps in reduction of the blood pressure, thereby reducing the chance of heart stroke. Angiotensin-II is a substance produced in the body which narrow the blood vessels thus increasing the blood pressure. The effect of angiotensin II is blocked by telmisartan, thereby relaxes the blood vessels, and lowers blood pressure.
Q) Does TELI CL 40MG TABLET cause hypotension? A) Yes, TELI CL 40MG TABLET might sometimes cause a dip in blood pressure leading to hypotension (low blood pressure). Regular monitoring of your blood pressure is advised while you are taking TELI CL 40MG TABLET. Please consult immediately if you experience dizziness or fainting.
Q) Can I stop taking TELI CL 40MG TABLET on my own? A) Do not stop taking TELI CL 40MG TABLET on your own as it may lead to chest pain, along with variation in blood pressure and even heart attack. Subsequent dose reduction is recommended provided it is advised by a doctor. In case you are feeling any discomfort while taking TELI CL 40MG TABLET, discuss with your doctor. He/she may prescribe you alternate medicines.
Q) Does TELI CL 40MG TABLET cause hyperkalemia? A) Hyperkalemia (increased potassium levels in blood) may occur in patients with advanced renal impairment, heart failure, on renal replacement therapy, or on potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium-containing salt substitutes or other drugs that increase potassium levels. Periodic determinations of serum electrolytes to detect possible electrolyte imbalances, particularly in patients at risk is advised. Please consult your doctor before taking this medication.
