Uses of SIZLAC 100MG TABLET

SIZLAC 100MG TABLET belongs to a group of medicines called antiepileptic medicines. SIZLAC 100MG TABLET is used to treat epilepsy. SIZLAC 100MG TABLET is used in adults, adolescents and children aged 4 years and older.

Special Instructions for SIZLAC 100MG TABLET

• Take SIZLAC 100MG TABLET irrespective of meals. You are advised to take normal diet and avoid high fat (ketogenic) diet while taking SIZLAC 100MG TABLET.
• Tell your doctor if you are allergic to SIZLAC 100MG TABLET or any other ingredients in the medicine.
• Avoid taking SIZLAC 100MG TABLET if you have a certain type of heart beat problem called second - or third -degree AV block.
• Keep your doctor informed about all the ongoing or past drugs that you have taken, for example carbamazepine, itraconazole, ritonavir and St. Johns wort etc.
• SIZLAC 100MG TABLET is not recommended for children under 4 years of age.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy or are a breast-feeding mother.
• Drinking alcohol with SIZLAC 100MG TABLET is not recommended as it may increase unwanted effects of SIZLAC 100MG TABLET.
• Driving and operating machines may be dangerous because SIZLAC 100MG TABLET may cause blurred vision, drowsiness or dizziness. Be careful while performing the actions that need you to be alert.

Q) How does SIZLAC 100MG TABLET work? A) SIZLAC 100MG TABLET belongs to group of medicines called antiepileptic medicines. SIZLAC 100MG TABLET works by stabilizing the activity in the brain. Brain and nerves are made up of many nerve cells which communicate with each other through the electrical signals. For proper function of brain and nerves these signals should be carefully regulated and when abnormally rapid and repetitive electrical signals are released in the brain, brains normal function is disturbed. This can result in fits or seizures. SIZLAC 100MG TABLET works by preventing sodium from entering the nerve cells when they begin to fire rapid and repetitive electrical signals. A build-up of sodium in the nerve cells is necessary for the electrical signal to build up and be passed on. SIZLAC 100MG TABLET prevents the excessive electrical activity that causes fits or seizures.
Q) What if I take more than the prescribed dose? A) If you take more than the prescribed dose, inform your family members/friends and call your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital. Take the medicine strip or bottle with you, even if it is empty or distorted. Do not panic if you experience dizziness, feeling sick (nausea) or being sick, fits (seizures), heart beat problems such a slow, fast or irregular heartbeat, coma or a fall in blood pressure with rapid heartbeat and sweating. Take a family member/friend with you to the hospital. Your doctors will ensure your symptoms to subside.
