REVAS AM 5MG TABLET is a combination of two anti-hypertensive drugs: Losartan (Angiotensin II receptor antagonist) and Amlodipine (calcium channel blocker). REVAS AM 5MG TABLET is used to treat hypertension.

Special Instructions for REVAS AM 5MG TABLET


• Take REVAS AM 5MG TABLET daily at the same time of the day irrespective of meals for best results.
• A low fat and salt diet along with exercising is highly recommended to enhance and compliment treatment with REVAS AM 5MG TABLET.
• You are advised not to drink alcohol while you are on REVAS AM 5MG TABLET medication.
• Do not take REVAS AM 5MG TABLET if you are planning to conceive/become pregnant.
• Keep your doctor informed if you have or had any previous history of heart, kidney or liver diseases.
• Speak with your doctor instantly if you have severe allergic rashes and swelling in the ankle, face, lips or mouth or extreme tiredness with muscle weakness while taking REVAS AM 5MG TABLET. Your doctor may discontinue or change the medicine.
• Do not stop taking REVAS AM 5MG TABLET suddenly without consulting your doctor. It may pose a risk of high blood pressure and related cardiac problems.
• You are recommended to regularly monitor blood pressure levels to prevent low blood pressure.

Q. How does REVAS AM 5MG TABLET work? A. REVAS AM 5MG TABLET consists of two anti-hypertensive drugs: Losartan (Angiotensin II receptor antagonist) and Amlodipine (calcium channel blocker). Angiotensin-II is a substance produced in the body which narrow the blood vessels thus increasing the blood pressure. The effect of angiotensin II is blocked by losartan, thereby relaxes the blood vessels, and lowers blood pressure. Amlodipine blocks the calcium ions and helps in reduction of the blood pressure, thereby reducing the chance of heart stroke.
Q. Does REVAS AM 5MG TABLET cause hypotension? A. Yes, REVAS AM 5MG TABLET might sometimes cause dip in blood pressure leading to hypotension (low blood pressure). Regular monitoring of your blood pressure is advised while you are taking REVAS AM 5MG TABLET. Please consult immediately if you experience dizziness or fainting.
Q. Can I stop taking REVAS AM 5MG TABLET on my own? A. Do not stop taking REVAS AM 5MG TABLET on your own as it may lead to chest pain, along with variation in blood pressure and even heart attack. Subsequent dose reduction is recommended provided it is recommended by a doctor. In-case you are feeling any discomfort while taking REVAS AM 5MG TABLET discuss with your doctor, he/she may prescribe you alternate medicines.
Q. Does REVAS AM 5MG TABLET cause Hyperkalemia? A. Hyperkalemia (increased potassium levels in blood) may occur in patients with advanced renal impairment, heart failure, on renal replacement therapy, or on potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium-containing salt substitutes or other drugs that increase potassium levels. Periodic determinations of serum electrolytes to detect possible electrolyte imbalances, particularly in patients at risk is advised. Please consult your doctor before taking this medication.
Q. Does REVAS AM 5MG TABLET cause swelling? A. Yes, REVAS AM 5MG TABLET causes swelling (swelling of feet, ankles, face, lips, eyelids, tongue, and throat). Keep your legs raised while you are lying for the swelling to go away. It generally goes away in few hours. However, it is not necessary for all people to experience the side-effect. Do not discontinue the medication and consult your doctor if the situation is worse.
