Uses of PATMET G1 TABLET

PATMET G1 TABLET is a combination of two anti-diabetic medicines: Glimepiride (Sulfonylurea) and Metformin (Biguanide). PATMET G1 TABLET is used in the treatment of diabetes.

Special Instructions for PATMET G1 TABLET

• PATMET G1 TABLET Extended Release (ER) tablets are specially made to extend the release of drug for prolonged time period.
• Take PATMET G1 TABLET preferably with breakfast in the morning. If you are taking it twice a day then take it with breakfast and dinner. 
• Remember to always take it with meals to avoid hypoglycemic events (sudden dip in blood glucose levels). 
• A low- carbohydrate healthy diet and 45 minutes of brisk walk daily along with PATMET G1 TABLET has been found to give very good results in people with type 2 diabetes. 
• Before driving or performing any strenuous activity after taking PATMET G1 TABLET make sure your blood glucose levels are in good control. 
• Do not hesitate to speak with a doctor if you experience hazy vision, dizziness, yellowing of skin, shaky hands, extreme anxiousness, severe stomach pain and profuse sweating.

Q. How does PATMET G1 TABLET work? A. PATMET G1 TABLET consists of two anti-diabetic medicines: Glimepiride and Metformin. Glimepiride lowers the blood glucose levels by increasing the amount of insulin release from the pancreas. Metformin lowers the glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from intestine and increases bodys sensitivity to insulin.
Q. Does PATMET G1 TABLET cause hypoglycemia? A. PATMET G1 TABLET helps to lower your blood glucose to as normal level as possible. But sometimes it might cause hypoglycemia (lowering of blood glucose level than normal). Symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, profuse sweating, tachycardia (fast heartbeat), and vision disorders. Regular monitoring of your blood-glucose levels is advised while you are on this medication as hypoglycemia could be a side-effect of PATMET G1 TABLET. Please consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the above side-effects.
Q. Does PATMET G1 TABLET cure diabetes? A. PATMET G1 TABLET helps in lowering the blood-glucose levels to normal, thereby treats diabetes. However, PATMET G1 TABLET does not cure diabetes, it only helps in reducing sugar levels in blood. Research is in progress for the cure of diabetes.
Q. Does PATMET G1 TABLET cause lactic acidosis? A. Yes, PATMET G1 TABLET may cause lactic acidosis. However, it is a rare side-effect which is not necessary for all people to experience. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as persistent stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, reduced body temperature and heartbeat as this might be an indication of a serious condition known as lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in blood).
Q. Can I stop taking PATMET G1 TABLET on my own? A. No, one should never stop taking PATMET G1 TABLET on their own. Discontinuing PATMET G1 TABLET on your own might lead to rise in blood-glucose levels. Continue taking PATMET G1 TABLET even though you feel better.
