Uses of MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION

MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION is a combination of two antibiotics: Meropenem (Carbapenem antibiotics) and Sulbactam (Beta-lactamase inhibitor). MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION is used to treat severe bacterial infections.

Special Instructions for MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION

• Take MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION after having a meal to avoid stomach upset.
• Please do not self-administer MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION. Your doctor/nurse will administer it.
• Do not take MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION if you have/had an allergic reaction to antibiotics like cephalosporins, monobactams or carbapenems. Symptoms of allergic reaction include swelling of face, throat, hands, feet, ankles or severe rashes that develop quickly.
• Please do not stop taking MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION even though you feel better. You are advised to take MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION for as long as your doctor has prescribed it.
• Please consult your doctor if you have diarrhoea after the medicine is administered. You are advised to drink plenty of water and to take non-spicy meals.

Q) How does MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION work? A) MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION is a combination of two antibiotics: Meropenem (Carbapenem antibiotics) and Sulbactam (Beta-lactamase inhibitor). Meropenem prevents the formation of bacterial protective cover which is necessary for the survival of bacteria. Sulbactam works by blocking the action enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate meropenem, thereby improves the activity of meropenem.
Q) Can I stop taking MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION on my own? A) Do not stop taking MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION on your own. Complete the full course of the medication as advised by your doctor. Continue taking MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION even though you feel better. Do not hesitate talk to your doctor if you feel any discomfort.
Q) Does MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION cause diarrhoea? A) Yes, diarrhoea could be a side-effect of MEROMAC PLUS INJECTION. However, it is an uncommon side-effect and is not necessary for all people to experience. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and eat small portions of non-spicy meals. Please consult your doctor if you experience excessive diarrhoea or if you find blood in the stools (black tarry stools).
