Special Instructions for KEPPRA SYRUP

• While taking KEPPRA SYRUP if you have thoughts of harming or killing yourself, consult your doctor immediately as it has been reported as a serious side effect.

• Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems because dose has to be adjusted for patients with kidney problem.
• Before driving or performing any strenuous activity after taking KEPPRA SYRUP make sure you are alert and normal enough to take up the above activities as this medicine may induce sleepiness.
• Always keep your doctor informed about the ongoing medications or the ones which you have taken in the past, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal medicines.





Q. How does KEPPRA SYRUP work? A. KEPPRA SYRUP belongs to a class of medicines called antiepileptics. Brain cells contact each other by sending electric signals. It is normal to send a certain number of signals per second but during seizures, the brain cells send more signals than our body can handle. KEPPRA SYRUP makes sure this does not happen and that our brain cells are not overexcited.
Q. How to take KEPPRA SYRUP? A. Take KEPPRA SYRUP with the oral syringe. Take the prescribed dose into the syringe by placing it in the adaptor opening of the bottle, then turn the bottle upside down and fill the syringe by pushing the piston up to remove air bubbles and pull down till the required quantity. Remove the syringe from bottle and push the piston to empty the contents into mouth. For children, dilute the prescribed amount of KEPPRA SYRUP into a glass of water.
Q. Does taking KEPPRA SYRUP cause mental health problems? A. Yes, taking KEPPRA SYRUP may cause mental health problems, however, they may go after stopping KEPPRA SYRUP or lowering the dose of KEPPRA SYRUP. You may experience symptoms like depression, suicidal ideations, hallucination, confusion, sleepiness, loss of memory, forgetfulness, panic attack, mood swings, agitation, etc. These symptoms usually start after few days or weeks of starting KEPPRA SYRUP. You are strongly advised to inform your doctor if these symptoms do not go away.
Q. Does KEPPRA SYRUP cause hair loss? A. Yes, KEPPRA SYRUP may cause hair loss as KEPPRA SYRUP may affect hair follicles. However, your hair will regrow after stopping the KEPPRA SYRUP or lowering the dose of KEPPRA SYRUP. 
Q. Can I take macrogol (laxative) with KEPPRA SYRUP? A. It is advised to not to take macrogol one hour before and one hour after taking the KEPPRA SYRUP as macrogol may decrease the effectiveness of KEPPRA SYRUP.
Q. Is KEPPRA SYRUP Safe to children? A. KEPPRA SYRUP is Safe in children above 16 years of age but in children above 6 months of age KEPPRA SYRUP is used as an add on medicine to other antiepileptic medicines.
