Q) How does GLYRED M TABLET work? A) GLYRED M TABLET is a combination of two anti-diabetic medicines: Gliclazide (Sulfonylurea) and Metformin (Biguanide). Gliclazide lowers the blood glucose levels by increasing the amount of insulin release from the pancreas. Metformin lowers the glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from intestine and increases body’s sensitivity to insulin.
Q) Does GLYRED M TABLET cause hypoglycaemia? A) GLYRED M TABLET helps to lower your blood glucose to as normal level as possible. But sometimes it might cause hypoglycaemia (lowering of blood glucose level than normal). Symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, profuse sweating, tachycardia (fast heartbeat), and vision disorders. Regular monitoring of your blood-glucose levels is advised while you are on this medication as hypoglycaemia could be a side-effect of GLYRED M TABLET. Please consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the above symptoms.
Q) Does GLYRED M TABLET cure diabetes? A) GLYRED M TABLET helps in lowering the blood-glucose levels to normal, thereby treats diabetes. However, GLYRED M TABLET does not cure diabetes. It only helps in reducing sugar levels in blood. Research is in progress for the cure of diabetes.
Q) Does GLYRED M TABLET cause changes in taste? A) Yes, taste changes could be a side-effect of GLYRED M TABLET. Avoid eating very hot or very cold foods. Rinsing your mouth properly, drinking plenty of fluids and chewing sugar free gum could help you overcome taste changes.
Q) Does GLYRED M TABLET cause lactic acidosis? A) Yes, lactic acidosis could be a side-effect of GLYRED M TABLET. However, it is a rare side-effect which is not necessary for all people to experience. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as persistent stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, reduced body temperature and heartbeat as this might be an indication of a serious condition known as lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in blood).
