Glimepiride lowers the blood glucose levels by increasing the amount of insulin release from the pancreas. Metformin lowers the glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from intestine and increases body's sensitivity to insulin.
Q) Does GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET cause hypoglycemia? A) GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET helps to lower your blood glucose to as normal level as possible. But sometimes it might cause hypoglycemia (lowering of blood glucose level than normal). Symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, profuse sweating, tachycardia (fast heartbeat), and vision disorders. Regular monitoring of your blood-glucose levels is advised while you are on GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET medication as hypoglycemia could be a side-effect of GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET. Please consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the above side-effects.
Q) Does GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET cure diabetes? A) GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET helps in lowering the blood-glucose levels to normal, thereby treats diabetes. However, GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET does not cure diabetes.  It only helps in reducing sugar levels in blood. Research is in progress for the cure of diabetes.
Q) Does GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET cause lactic acidosis? A) Yes, GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET may cause lactic acidosis. However, it is a rare side-effect which is not necessary for all people to experience. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as persistent stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, reduced body temperature and heartbeat as this might be an indication of a serious condition known as lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in blood).
Q) Can I stop taking GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET on my own? A) No, please do not stop taking GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET on your own. Discontinuing GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET on your own might lead to rise in blood-glucose levels. Continue taking GENIRIDE M 2MG TABLET even though you feel better.
