Uses of Geminor M1 Tab

Geminor M1 Tab is a combination of two anti-diabetic medicines: Glimepiride (Sulfonylurea) and Metformin (Biguanide). Geminor M1 Tab is used in the treatment of diabetes.

Special Instructions for Geminor M1 Tab

• Geminor M1 Tab Extended Release (ER) tablets are specially made to extend the release of drug for prolonged time period.
• Take Geminor M1 Tab preferably with breakfast in the morning. If you are taking it twice a day then take it with breakfast and dinner. 
• Remember to always take it with meals to avoid hypoglycemic events (sudden dip in blood glucose levels). 
• A low- carbohydrate healthy diet and 45 minutes of brisk walk daily along with Geminor M1 Tab has been found to give very good results in people with type 2 diabetes. 
• Before driving or performing any strenuous activity after taking Geminor M1 Tab make sure your blood glucose levels are in good control. 
• Do not hesitate to speak with a doctor if you experience hazy vision, dizziness, yellowing of skin, shaky hands, extreme anxiousness, severe stomach pain and profuse sweating.

Q. How does Geminor M1 Tab work? A. Geminor M1 Tab consists of two anti-diabetic medicines: Glimepiride and Metformin. Glimepiride lowers the blood glucose levels by increasing the amount of insulin release from the pancreas. Metformin lowers the glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from intestine and increases bodys sensitivity to insulin.
Q. Does Geminor M1 Tab cause hypoglycemia? A. Geminor M1 Tab helps to lower your blood glucose to as normal level as possible. But sometimes it might cause hypoglycemia (lowering of blood glucose level than normal). Symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, profuse sweating, tachycardia (fast heartbeat), and vision disorders. Regular monitoring of your blood-glucose levels is advised while you are on this medication as hypoglycemia could be a side-effect of Geminor M1 Tab . Please consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the above side-effects.
Q. Does Geminor M1 Tab cure diabetes? A. Geminor M1 Tab helps in lowering the blood-glucose levels to normal, thereby treats diabetes. However, Geminor M1 Tab does not cure diabetes, it only helps in reducing sugar levels in blood. Research is in progress for the cure of diabetes.
Q. Does Geminor M1 Tab cause lactic acidosis? A. Yes, Geminor M1 Tab may cause lactic acidosis. However, it is a rare side-effect which is not necessary for all people to experience. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as persistent stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, reduced body temperature and heartbeat as this might be an indication of a serious condition known as lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in blood).
Q. Can I stop taking Geminor M1 Tab on my own? A. No, one should never stop taking Geminor M1 Tab on their own. Discontinuing Geminor M1 Tab on your own might lead to rise in blood-glucose levels. Continue taking Geminor M1 Tab even though you feel better.
