Product Composition

Domperidone (1mg/ml)


DIMPY SYRUP belongs to a group of medicines called dopamine antagonists. DIMPY SYRUP is used to treat nausea and vomiting in adolescents of 12 years of age and older.

Special Instructions for DIMPY SYRUP

• Take DIMPY SYRUP at least 15 to 30 mins before meals to control nausea and vomiting.
• Do not take DIMPY SYRUP if you have blockage or tear in your intestines, tumor of the pituitary gland, and heart failure.
• Do not take DIMPY SYRUP for more than 7 days until and unless you have been recommended by a physician.
• Do not take DIMPY SYRUP without asking your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive. Breast feeding women should not take DIMPY SYRUP.
• DIMPY SYRUP may make you feel sleepy and drowsy, hence do not indulge in activities such as driving and activities which involves physical and mental coordination and alertness.
• Taking alcohol along with DIMPY SYRUP is not recommended as it may induce excessive sedation.
• Take DIMPY SYRUP with caution specially if you have or had any kidney or liver diseases.
• Consult your doctor immediately if you experience trouble in breathing, irregular heart rhythm or loss of consciousness.
• Always keep your doctor informed about the ongoing medications or the ones which you have taken in the past, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal medicines.
• Seek medical help immediately if you experience any allergic reactions, signs may include a rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of face, lips, throat or tongue.





Q) How does DIMPY SYRUP works? A) DIMPY SYRUP is a dopamine antagonist. It is used to treat nausea and vomiting. DIMPY SYRUP works by blocking the action of dopamine, a natural substance that cause nausea and vomiting.
Q) Can DIMPY SYRUP cause tenderness in breast? A) Yes, one can experience mild pain or tenderness in breast, there could be a possible nipple discharge while consuming DIMPY SYRUP. However, this is a rare and very uncommon side effect, if this occurs consult your doctor immediately.
Q) Can I take DIMPY SYRUP with ritonavir or saquinavir (AIDS/HIV medicines)? A) No, you are advised not to take DIMPY SYRUP with above medications since these medications may reduce the breakdown of DIMPY SYRUP by the liver and this may increase the concentration of DIMPY SYRUP in blood stream and hence can increase the risk of DIMPY SYRUP side effects.
Q) Can I take DIMPY SYRUP after a meal? A) No, you are advised to take DIMPY SYRUP before meals. If taken after meals, absorption of the DIMPY SYRUP is delayed and you may end up with vomiting or nausea.
Q) Is DIMPY SYRUP safe? A) DIMPY SYRUP can be safely taken when it has been prescribed by a doctor, but elderly patients should take DIMPY SYRUP in lower doses and with caution because it may increase the risk of cardiac arrest and heart rhythm disorder.
Q) What will happen if excess of DIMPY SYRUP is taken? A) You are advised not to overdose with DIMPY SYRUP because it can be harmful for you, medicinal compliance is very important. If at all you have accidently overdosed inform your doctor and if needed seek medical attention immediately. You may experience symptoms like feeling sleepy, confused, unusual movements of the tongue or abnormal posture if you have taken DIMPY SYRUP in excess.
Q) Which medicines I should not take with DIMPY SYRUP? A) Some medicines may reduce the effect of DIMPY SYRUP or interact with DIMPY SYRUP or cause serious side-effects when given both at same time such as ketoconazole, fluconazole or voriconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin, moxifloxacin, pentamidine, haloperidol, pimozide, sertindole, citalopram, escitalopram, mequitazine, mizolastine, toremifene, vandetanib, vincamine and protease inhibitors. So, always inform and check with your doctor before taking DIMPY SYRUP with other medications.
