Anthel Syrup is an anthelmintic drug (group of drugs which expels parasites) from the body. It is used in treating tapeworm infections.

• Complete the full course of the antiparasitic drug do not leave it in the mid-way. Leaving Anthel Syrup mid-way can lead to incomplete treatment.

A. Anthel Syrup is an antiseptic and it helps in treating cuts, grazes, small wounds, abrasions, superficial burns and blisters and protects the affected area from infections. Anthel Syrup belongs to a class of antiseptics called iodophores. Iodophores apply their antiseptic effect by releasing iodine. This leads to death of microbes.

Q. Does taking Anthel Syrup cause hyperthyroidism?
A. Yes, Anthel Syrup if used in long term may results in iodine absorption and iodine may cause thyroid gland to release excess thyroid hormone. However, it is mostly seen in people who have thyroid nodules, goitre or any other thyroid diseases. You may experience symptoms of weight loss, sweating, increased appetite, rapid or fast heartbeat or restlessness.
